Right here in our backyard in Colorado we collect Blue Stain Pine lumber. Blue Stain Pine (aka. Beetle Kill) is found in large quantities throughout the majestic Rocky Mountains. Blue Stain Pine is created due to a little Mountain Pine Beetle that unfortunately kills trees of Lodgepole Pine, Douglas Fir, and Whitebark Pine trees. The beetle lays eggs under the bark of the tree which in turn secretes a blue stain throughout the tree. The good part about all this damage is the tree will yield a beautiful rich blue grain throughout the wood. Blue Stain Pine has become more and more popular with furniture and all kinds of woodworking. You can't go wrong with choosing Blue Stain Pine as a showpiece mini.
The Hard White Maple is native to the United States and favorited by many woodworkers. With it's smooth grain and light color it compliments the Blue Stain Pine nicely.
The mini is crafted to perfection here in our Colorado wood shop. The wood pores are sealed with an original Linseed Oil and Beeswax rub.
